RESTAURANTEUR HITS HOME RUN FOR CHARITY
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (Wireless Flash) -- One baseball-loving businessman isn't letting a little league let-down stop him from hitting a home run with baseball's best.
Restaurant Business Inc. (RBI) is suiting up for the 4th Annual Hot Stove League, which, in a century-old tradition, brings together the game's greats for an informal dinner and baseball banter.
This year's event features Pete Rose, Arte Moreno, and Bob Motley, but don't look for RBI founder Ron Salisbury to relive his own hitting history.
Salisbury says, "I was always the kid they stuck out in right field!"
With the proceeds funding inner-city baseball leagues, Salisbury's off-season shindig is rounding all the right bases.
And planning the pastime parties even brings back his own slugging story with a Hall of Fame friend.
Salisbury says, "I got a hit off Nolan Ryan. He threw it slow enough that I could actually get the bat on the ball. I've got it on tape."
The Hot Stove events begin in November. For more info, check out sonoracafe.com or cannerynewport.com.
