A number of restaurants specializing in Southwestern fare opened in Los Angeles in the 1980’s. Sonora Café which recognized and harnessed the regions’ eclectic culinary heritage is still thriving and has established itself as L.A.’s premier Southwestern restaurant. Mexican-born Executive Chef Felix Salcedo created a very sophisticated bill of fare.
Sonora Café’s décor was carefully designed to comfortably transport guests to another place and time. Aged wood floors, high-beamed ceilings, western-inspired chandeliers, cultural artwork and a massive fireplace adorn the main dining room. Aunique bar menu can be enjoyed in our exciting lounge or outdoor patio facing trendy La Brea Blvd.
A perennial winner of the “Gold Award” from the Southern California Restaurant Writer’s Association, Sonora Café believes in generous dishes with bold flavors. Its signature presentation, Texas Barbecue Pork Chop, is served with a sweet potato tamale and mango-papaya salsa. Black Angus Rib Chop (Cowboy Cut) with red chile onion rings and chipolte garlic butter has gained quite a reputation.

What Southwestern restaurant would be complete without an outstanding selection of Margaritas and premium Tequilas? Some Sonora Café guests indulge themselves with a 24-Karat Margarita, but most relish the house specialty – a widely-acclaimed 1800 and Cointreau hand-shaken Margarita.
We also offer an extensive Wine list featuring premium wines from around the world.
